My group was responsible for fundraising for the Chula Vista Zine Fest. We had to create a donation page for High Tech High’s fundraising website, connect with local art stores to ask for donations of materials, email parents to let them know what they could contribute to the team, create social media posts to advertise our donation website, and sell treats at our exhibitions. I think that we did a good job of running the food sales at the exhibitions. We always brought neat decorations, were very enthusiastic about getting customers, and in our final exhibition we made a good amount of money. It was challenging to run the donation site because none of us were familiar with the platform and none of us were all that comfortable with the practice of asking people for donations without selling them something in return. Next year, I would advise that they spend more time telling people about the donation site and use a platform that more people are familiar with.
