Model United Nations, or MUN, is a project that was done in spring of 2015. You may have heard of the club version of this at other schools, but HTMCV has an annual MUN conference held for a total of 2 days. In these two days the 7th and 8th graders dress up in their most professional attire, split up into debate topics, and try to solve the world's problems. The whole thing is a mini, middle school version of the United Nations, and over the course of a few weeks we study everything about this worldwide organization. We are to accurately represent whichever country we are given based on research we have compiled over the study period of this project, and use factual information and evidence to back up our country's point of view on the problem addressed.
My part
A small group of students, including myself, decided to take this project to the next level. If you don't already know, HTMCV has a sort of sixth period elective called, "X-Block." This specific group of students joined the MUN X-Block, rather than choosing dodgeball or crafts, etc. and helped Ms. Kali put together the entire conference, beginning months before the project itself was even launched. An even smaller group of kids, also including myself, decided to take another step and become chairs.
